When are fillings necessary?

If our dentists in Seattle identify any cavities, we take any necessary x-rays to better understand the condition of the cavities. If the decay is not too large, it can be treated with a filling. However, if the decay is large and cannot be treated with a simple filling, a root canal will be required to prevent any further decay.

Why choose tooth colored fillings?

Tooth colored fillings match the color of your kids' adjacent teeth and they're recommended for restorations made in aesthetic areas.

For larger fillings, or those that go in between the teeth, silver fillings may be recommended. However, for the most part, both types are filling material, be it composite or amalgam, can be used to restore teeth that have been affected by decay.

How do you take care of composite, tooth colored fillings?

After the filling is placed, it's important that your kids maintain good oral habits by brushing and flossing more than twice a day. They will prevent any future decay and they will also keep their fillings strong.
